An abrasive is a material, often a mineral, that is used to shape or finish a workpiece through rubbing which leads to part of the workpiece being worn away by friction. While finishing a material often means polishing it to gain a smooth, reflective surface, the process can also involve roughening as in satin, matte or beaded finishes. In short, the ceramics which are used to cut, grind and polish other softer materials are known as abrasives.
We offer a full range of Superflex abrasive wheels and points, where abrasive grain is homogeneously distributed in the epoxy bond. The open-cell surface and elastic properties of the bond ensure good adaptability to contours and a soft, cool grinding action.
PFERD Diamond Cut-Off Wheels simplify these tasks in two ways. One- their high-grade diamond coating lets them cut quickly and efficiently. Two- their three new lines have colour-coded labels that help users select just the right wheel for the specific cutting job at hand.
All PFERD diamond cut-off wheels are Flat (Type 1). They are available in both continuous edge and segmented edge styles and in diameters from 4 1/2” to 16”, thicknesses from .060” to .125” and in three bore sizes, 5/8, 7/8” and 1”. Segmented edge wheels have different segment heights and widths depending on the wheel's diameter.
